About

Meet Templé, the Adelaide, Australian-based multi-instrumentalist known for blending disco's past with the soundscapes of techno’s future.

Behind the moniker lies Ben Smith, an artist with a love for vintage synthesisers, spring verb, live musicians and equally, but antithetically old drum machines. Driven by a lifelong pursuit: to create music that moves the body and touches the soul.

Ben has been on warm up duties for countless underground A-list artists touring Australia, including Rick Wilhite, Osunlande, Trus’me, Rahaan, Alkalino, Hidden Spheres along many more. He's left his mark on numerous festivals and nightclubs across the country.

In 2020, under the TEMPLE alias, Ben released music on UK imprints Midnight Riot and its more techno-focused counterpart - Black Riot Records. Subsequently, Ben found a new home on Norwegian label Internasjonal, headed up by the renowned Prins Thomas where he released the "Love Machine EP" in 2022.

In 2023 Ben rebranded as Templé and has been putting the finishing touches on his own label, Templé Musiq, set for its debut release: "Who We Are" at the beginning of 2024.

Templé performs his original music with an 8 piece band called TEMPLÉ MAGIC ORCHESTRA (yes this is a nod to those Japanese pioneers) and it is something to behold. Performing live house music with mainly kicks, hats and snares for backing tracks featuring a string trio, a full horn section, live percussion and keys. It’s a fun time to say the very least.

And if you've yet to witness a Templé DJ set, brace yourself for an enthralling journey. He effortlessly shifts gears exploring untraveled musical lands. Blending disco, afro, jazz, techno, boogie, and house cuts. On the dance floor, Templé evokes an infectious connection, where love and unity are paramount and transcendence is the only intention.

See you on the dance floor.
